ANITA LOUISE WESSON-CLARY
Anita Louise Wesson-Clary (March 2, 1957 – June 1, 2025) was born in Las Vegas, Nevada, the second of four children to Elvin Sr. and Ledora Wesson.
She graduated from Valley High School in 1975 and attended UNLV before starting her 38-year career with Centel Telephone Company (now Century Link), where she advanced through several positions and served as president of the Black History Committee.
Anita was deeply committed to her faith, joining Evergreen Missionary Baptist Church in the early 1980s, where she sang in the choir, ushered, taught Sunday School, and began a children's snack program. She later became an accredited Evangelist and was known for her outreach, including knitting scarves for the homeless.
Anita married Dexter Clary in 1977 and welcomed her daughter in 1978.
She was preceded in death by her parents Elvin Sr. and Ledora, three of her siblings: Betty, Elvin Jr., and Phyllis and her nieces and nephew, Rhonda Nichelle, Ronda Monique and Elvin III.
Anita is survived by her daughter, Detra "Nikki" Clary of Las Vegas, Nevada, brother, Greg Wesson (Cynthia) of Las Vegas, Nevada, and her sister, Dollean Harmon of Columbus, Ohio. She also leaves behind nieces, nephews, and a host of extended family and friends. Her legacy of faith, service, and kindness endures.
Her viewing will be held Friday, June 27th between 3:00PM - 7:00 PM at Palm Downtown Mortuary & Cemetery on 1325 N Main St, Las Vegas, NV 89101. Her going home celebration will be held Saturday, June 28th at 12:00 PM at Greater Evergreen Missionary Baptist Church.
