Arthur Louis Castle Sr Obituary
Las Vegas, NV - October 8, 1928 - June 25, 2025
Art Castle, passed away at his Las Vegas home on June 25, 2025, surrounded by family and photographs of the life he built and loved.
Born Arthur Louis Casolari Sr., in Chicago, Illinois, Art grew up with a sharp wit, a generous heart, and a love for storytelling that never faded. A natural salesman, Art found success selling everything from cars, encyclopedias, millinery and baby bonnets to managing concessions at the famous Chez Paree and Regal nightclubs. After serving in the U.S. Army Signal Corps during the Korean War, Art found his way West to his true home in Las Vegas, a city that matched his spirit, grit, and sparkle.
In the early days of the Strip, Art quickly made his mark in the casino industry, working at iconic venues including the Nevada Club, the Flamingo, and the International Hotel. His deep respect for fairness and integrity led to his involvement in a landmark labor lawsuit, where he helped pave the way for the fair treatment of dealers who had been wrongfully dismissed. Though he "retired" briefly operating the Villager Lounge in Henderson, Art's passion for people and gaming business brought him back as Casino Manager at Arizona Charlie's, where his legacy of even-handed scheduling, warm leadership, sharp sense of humor, and a signature grin that always hinted at a story carried on.
A man guided by fairness, loyalty, and tradition, Art also found deep meaning in the Masonic community. Drawn to its values of brotherhood, service, and personal integrity, Art was raised a Master Mason in March of 1975, continued his Masonic Career as a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason, was a founding member of Zelzah Shrine and served one year in the Nevada Grand Lodge. Art was a proud Freemason and a dedicated Shriner, forming lifelong friendships and contributing to causes that reflected his generous spirit.
Of all Art's accomplishments, none meant more to him than his family. He was a devoted husband to René, and a proud father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and loyal friend. He believed in the power of gathering around a table — raising a toast, sharing stories, and celebrating the good in life.
He often said, "So far, so good," and he lived that way — with optimism, humility, and kindness. His legacy is one of warmth, laughter, strength, and connection.
Art is survived by his children: Christine, Arthur Jr., Louis II and his wife Donna, his grandchildren: Anthony, Samantha and her fiancé Mike De Palo, James, Sydney, and Michael. He also leaves behind countless friends whose lives were brightened by his humor, compassion, and unforgettable stories.
