Las Vegas, NV - The hurricane-strength forces that made Bruce Federwisch who he was for all his life have become silent. It is with great sadness we announce Bruce Harold Federwisch, 73, of Las Vegas, NV, died peacefully May 16, 2026 at home surrounded by family. He fought cancer for the past 6 years.

Born November 8, 1952, in Biloxi, MS, Bruce graduated Clark High School in Las Vegas, NV in 1969.

Bruce spent over four decades pursuing his career in construction using his hands and machines to shape wood and concrete into infrastructure from homes to major corporate installations throughout the Vegas valley. Bruce retired in 2014 and had a lifelong bias for action, cherished the outdoors, and loved his family.

A fervent outdoorsman, he lived much of his life hiking throughout Southern Nevada and California. He reveled in scrambling to the top of Black Mountain. Among destinations he held Charleston Peak closest to his heart by summiting it six times. Bruce also completed myriad long distance, high altitude hikes across most of the north side of the Sheep Range.

He was a life-long desert and drag racing fan. From the earliest days of the Barstow to Vegas, Mint 400, and Phoenix drags, Bruce rallied friends and family to not only view but support these frenetic events by being a integral member of his favorite drivers' pit crews.

Bruce was ready for anything, he loved motorcycles. He raced Swedish-made dirt bikes across the desert and later rode his Harley Davidson heritage classic over miles of slim black ribbons of road across Death Valley, Route 66, and sometimes on a whim over Sitgreaves Pass through Oatman, AZ.

Preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Doris Mae Federwisch, Bruce was married to the love of his life who never left his side, Leida (Alvarez) Federwisch, for 35 years and lived in Las Vegas since 1961. He is also survived by brother David Federwisch (Donna) and niece Ashley Hutton (Patrick) and brother James Federwisch (Vanessa), nieces Victoria Federwisch Webb (Thomas), Megan Federwisch Stevens (Aaron) and nephew Joshua Holland (Tabitha), great nieces Winnie Webb, and Makiah and Sierra Holland, and great nephews Teddy Webb and Jaxson Holland.

Free of the ravages of sickness and pain Bruce is made whole again, he is healed, and is in the presence of his Savior.

Just a week before he passed Bruce gathered his nearest family close to him. He joined our hands and hearts, then prayed aloud his love of God and family, and his salvation. Bruce's final rally proved without doubt his love for us and Jesus.

To those who know and love him, Bruce will forever be in our hearts and minds.

A funeral is scheduled for 11 a.m., Thursday June 11, 2026, at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, 10265 Bermuda Rd, Las Vegas, NV. Luncheon immediately to follow.
