Las Vegas, Nevada - Carol Fox, a longtime resident of Las Vegas, Nevada, passed away on June 27, 2025, at the age of 81. Carol was born on February 3, 1944, in Estelline, South Dakota, to Tom and Delores "Ditter" Hooker, and was the oldest of four children. In the 1950's the family moved West and settled in Newberg, Oregon. After graduating from the local high school, Carol married Marvin Fox and became a stay-at-home mom, raising four children in the Beaverton area. Later, she received a degree from Marylhurst University (Oregon) and began a career in the construction and land development field in metropolitan Portland. She moved to Las Vegas in 2002 and worked for KB Homes, one of the largest residential home builders in the US.

Carol had a home in Paradise Palms for over 20 years. She loved animals and could often be seen walking her little dog Poppy through the neighborhood. She was especially fond of cats and upon retirement she devoted herself to the local cat rescue rehoming community. She initially operated the Cat Adoption Program at a local East Side PetSmart. She also worked with Clark County Animal Control to expand the feral cat "trap, neuter, and release" program. In 2007 she founded Homeward Bound, an innovative groundbreaking cat adoption center, a free roaming facility located in a local eastside shopping complex.

Survivors include a daughter, Lanette Fox, of Las Vegas; sons, Derek Fox of Forest Grove, Oregon, and Brian Fox of Newberg, Oregon; daughter-in-law Lacy Fox of Grants Pass, Oregon; brothers Richard Hooker of Las Vegas, and Michael Hooker (Jeanne Norgaard-Tramm) of Asheville, N.C., as well as grandchildren, a niece and nephew, cousins and a host of devoted friends. She was preceded in death by her son Cory Fox, Grants Pass, Oregon, and sister Georgia Jo Paola, Hillsboro, Oregon.

The family will host a private celebration of life for Carol later this year.
