CHARLENE SELLERS

Charlene Sellers (Evans), 83, of Las Vegas, Nevada, since 1962, passed away at her home, surrounded by loved ones, on February 1, 2026.

Charlene was born to Verner and Dovie Evans in Long Beach, California, on May 27, 1942. Her family relocated to Arizona in 1945 and then settled in Wikieup, Arizona, in 1952. She attended Wikieup School, a two-room schoolhouse where her mother was her teacher.

She attended Kingman High School and graduated in 1960. Charlene attended college at Palo Verde College in Blythe, California, and spent one year at Nevada Southern University (UNLV) before transferring to Northern Arizona University, where she graduated in 1966 with a degree in education.

Charlene began her teaching career at Vail Pittman Elementary School, teaching first grade. In 1975, she transferred to J.M. Ullom Elementary School, where she taught first and second grade while earning her master's degree at UNLV. She retired in May 1997.

Charlene grew up on a ranch and had a love for animals, especially horses. She was active in 4-H and was a proud member of the Jr. Cattlemen's Association. She competed in junior rodeos, excelling in barrel racing, and was awarded Rodeo Queen Attendant while attending Northern Arizona University.

Her later interests included collecting antiques and cookie jars as a member of the Questers Antique Club.

Charlene is survived by her sister, Cheryl Shaner; her son, Jason Evans (Cathi Evans); and her four grandchildren, Desiree, Deidre, Alyssa, and Robert Evans, as well as her beloved fur babies, Missy and Maggie May.

Services will be held at Palm Mortuary on South Eastern Avenue on February 28, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. A reception will follow at the home of Cheryl Shaner.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Best Friends Animal Sanctuary.
