Charles Freeman Floyd (Chuck) Obituary

North Las Vegas, NV - Chuck passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 17th at home in North Las Vegas. Chuck was born on January 30, 1949 in Fullerton California; He was preceded in death by his father Charles B Floyd, his mother Virginia and his eldest son Charles AKA Chuckie (Carla) and his eldest daughter Kimberly (Todd). He is survived by his forever wife Cathy, Children Gary, Jennifer, Mattie (Kelly), Monica, Tricia (Adrian), Elizabeth "Liz" (Joshua), Angela (Tyree) and Timothy; his 23 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren; his siblings Marcia and Phillip. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and a close circle of friends who were like family.

Chuck was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where he served in many leadership positions, some of his favorite were teaching the youth, Boy Scouts and serving in the Bishopric.

He spent his early childhood in Southern California where he spent hours outdoors riding bikes, cub scouts and helping in his dad's shoe store. He moved to North Las Vegas when his dad transferred shoe stores. He went to Rancho High School where he was President of the Deca Club lettered in football and wrestling and met his High School sweetheart, Cathy Hamilton. They dated throughout High School and on October 10, 1970 were married in the St George Temple. They were happily married for almost 55 years. Chuck worked in his dad's shoe store and opened one of his own. After selling his store he worked driving trucks and worked for CCSD as a bus driver for many years (he loved that job!). He also enjoyed working with the Boy Scouts of America where he earned many leadership awards. He and Cathy both earned the Silver Beaver award. He was a devoted GreenBay Packer and New York Yankiee fan. He spent many hours playing pool with his friends and his kids. He had a knack for showing up and lending a helping hand whenever someone needed it. He loved to dutch oven cook, making the best peach cobbler and chicken. His unwavering love for his wife, family and sense of humor will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of making memories with him.

Services will be held Tuesday May 27th at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints chapel on Walnut and Carey. Family and friends gathering will be from 9:30 - 10:30am with Funeral Services to follow at 10:30am.
