Christine Christensen (Chris) Obituary

St. George, Utah - Christine Christensen, a longtime Southern Nevada educator, died in January in St. George, Utah. She was 78.


Born Christine Pugh in Philadelphia in 1947, Christensen moved to Las Vegas to attend Nevada Southern University and begin a career in elementary education. She earned both bachelor's and master's degrees in education from UNLV.


She taught at St. Viator Parish School before joining the Clark County School District, where she taught at R. Guild Gray, Paul Culley, Harvey Dondero, Marion Earl and Doris Hancock elementary schools. After retiring from the CCSD in 2002, she moved to St. George.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Mark Christensen, a retired CCSD principal. She is survived by her sister, Michele Reeves of Morton, Miss.; her son, Nick Christensen of Portland, Ore.; and her granddaughter Eleanor Christensen, also of Portland.


No services were held. Her ashes were scattered near Winema Beach, Oregon.
