Pittsburg, CA - Craig Whitley, 67, passed away on June 17, 2026, after a lifelong battle with Cystic Fibrosis. He was born on March 15, 1959, in Kellogg, Idaho, to Carol (Grant) Whitley and Lloyd Finley and was later adopted by Edgar Whitley, who became a beloved father figure.

Craig graduated from Boise State University with a degree in elementary education and later earned his master's degree from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. He dedicated nearly 30 years to teaching in the Clark County School District, inspiring countless students to believe in themselves and pursue their dreams. He also coached tumbling teams at five schools, helping young people build confidence and teamwork.

Throughout his career, Craig received numerous honors, including being named Teacher of the Year at multiple schools and receiving statewide recognition for his dedication to education.

Outside the classroom, Craig enjoyed spending time outdoors and cheering on Boise State football. He especially loved bringing people together through family gatherings, reunions, and celebrations.

Craig was preceded in death by his father, Lloyd Finley; his adoptive father, Edgar Whitley; and his siblings, Mark Whitley and Teresa Whitley, and other beloved family members and friends who held a special place in his heart.

He is survived by his loving husband of 22 years, David Palomo; his daughters, Alicyn Whitley and Evelyn Dolphin; their mother, Sue Dolphin; his mother, Carol Whitley; his sister, Kathleen Hrabik (Marty Hrabik); and many cherished cousins, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2026, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Thurman White Academy of the Performing Arts Gymnasium, 1661 W. Galleria Drive, Henderson, NV 89014.

Craig's legacy lives on through the thousands of students he inspired, the family and friends he loved, and the countless lives he touched with his generosity, humor, and unwavering belief in others.
