Las Vegas, NV - Cynthia B. Baca, a devoted wife, loving mother, treasured grandmother & great-grandmother, caring sister, and aunt, passed away in her Las Vegas home with her family by her side on May 22, 2026. She was born in El Paso, Texas on October 9, 1944. She is survived by her husband Gilbert A. Baca, her daughter Amaya (Amy) Bleu, her son Luis A. Baca (Andrew), her stepdaughter Michelle Hadley and her brother Eugene Burk. She was the heart of her family and the center of a wide circle of friends. Cynthia attended primary school in Europe and matriculated at Colorado Women's College in Denver, the University of Puerto Rico and New Mexico State University. She lived in Houston, TX, New York, NY, Denver, CO, Tucson, AZ; and Roswell, NM before moving to Santa Fe, NM in 1980. In Santa Fe she managed several art galleries, oversaw the construction of Sunrise Springs Holistic Healing Center, served as the Director of the NM Art in Public Places Department and was an analyst in the NM legislature. In 1999 she moved to Las Vegas, NV with her husband and son and supported education through her role at the University of Nevada at Las Vegas Foundation. She then became the Executive Director for Rebuilding Together Southern Nevada, helping countless deserving senior citizens. After a career of service to others, she retired in 2018. She was an avid reader, gardener, dog lover, artist, chef, and athlete. She will forever be part of her family and will have a lasting impact on all the people she touched with her passion, intelligence, caring and grace.
