Dennis Kline Johnson Obituary

Las Vegas, Nevada - Dennis Kline Johnson passed away peacefully in his sleep surrounded by his family at the age of 83 on Thursday, October 2, 2025. Dennis was born on October 10, 1941, at Mine Operators Hospital in Tonopah, Nevada, to James K. and Elaine Johnson. A proud Nevadan through and through, Dennis built his life and legacy in the Silver State.

He married the love of his life, Carol Thompson Johnson, on July 28, 1962, and together they raised two daughters, Ardis and Jill.

Dennis grew up in Fernley, Nevada, with his sister Karen Jaehne, who preceded him in death. He graduated as valedictorian of the Fernley High School Class of 1959. In addition to his academic excellence, Dennis was a talented three-sport athlete and was later inducted into the Fernley High School Hall of Fame. He attended the University of Nevada, where he earned dual degrees in economics and real estate. A proud member of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity, Dennis made many lifelong friends during his college years, a decision he always cherished.

He spent his entire life in Nevada, contributing to its growth as a builder and developer for nearly 60 years. Dennis was deeply involved in advancing the homebuilding industry locally, regionally, and nationally. In 1991, he was named a Life Director of the National Association of Home Builders in recognition of his many years of service. In 2005, the Northern Nevada Home Builders Association honored Dennis as the first inductee in its Builder Hall of Fame for his vast contributions to the field.

Dennis was appointed by three separate governors to the State Contractors Board, serving for 14 years and twice elected chairman by his peers. Over the course of his career, he owned three contracting and development companies and built or developed more than sixty large-scale projects and housing subdivisions. After years of hard work, Dennis embraced retirement and cherished time spent with his wife, daughters, and grandchildren, first in Reno and later in Sun City Summerlin.

Dennis was happiest surrounded by his family: Carol, aka Tootsie, his wife of 64 years, his daughters Ardis Elaine Parmer (Jay) of Reno, and Jill Coreen Fielden (Scott) of Las Vegas; and his seven grandchildren, who were the light of his life, Amanda Carol Parmer, Morgan Louis Parmer, Kline Thomas Fielden, Jane Carol Reddoch (Michael), Mary Katherine Jill Parmer, Bryce Scott Fielden, and Ainsley Grace Parmer, all of whom lovingly called him Papa. Dennis will also be missed by his nieces, nephews, many cousins and numerous close friends who were like family. His family was his greatest joy, and he will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

In lieu of flowers, please spend time with or send a bouquet to a loved one. The family would like to thank Nathan Adelson Hospice for their assistance and care. Family and friends will gather to celebrate Dennis's life later this autumn.
