EDWARD C. ENGLISH

June 12,1938- Sept. 12, 2025

Edward C. English, beloved husband, father, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 12, 2025, at the age of 87 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He is survived by his devoted wife, Eloise ("Ellie Rose") English, and his cherished daughter, Wanda English Blair.

Born and raised in Mobile, Alabama, Edward moved to Compton, California, in his late teens, where he met and married Eloise. In 1968, he relocated his family from Los Angeles to Torrance, California, where he lived for many years before moving to Lakeville, Minnesota, in 2009, following major health events that required extensive care. Edward spent the last eight years of his life in Las Vegas—a city he came to call home.

Edward is also survived by his siblings Leonard English (Brenda) and Betty Ferguson (David), along with a large extended family of loving cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alma Jackson English and Walter English Sr., and five siblings: Geraldine Robinson, Inez Spencer, Walter English Jr., Annie Ruth Bailey, and Catherine Moody.

Over the course of more than 50 years in the retail grocery industry, Edward built a distinguished career marked by dedication and integrity. He began as a butcher's assistant and steadily advanced to become a general manager for several California grocery chains. His work ethic and leadership left a lasting impression on colleagues and customers alike.

Edward will be remembered for his generosity, compassion, fairness, and deep love of sports. He was a devoted fan of the Raiders, Lakers, and Dodgers, and had a tradition of calling family and friends after every game to break down the plays, celebrate the wins, and commiserate over the losses. His commentary was always sharp, humorous, and full of heart—those calls became a cherished ritual that brought loved ones even closer together.

In lieu of flowers, the family invites memorial donations to be made in Edward's honor to his favorite charitable organization: St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
