Las Vegas, Nevada - Elizabeth "Liz" Reeder, 76, of Las Vegas, Nevada died of cancer on November 17, 2025.
Liz was born in Sacramento, California to Eugene Kamrar and Patricia Ann (Rhodes) Kamrar. She played piano as a child and grew up in a rural area near Roseville where her parents raised almond trees. She walked a lengthy distance to school, stopping daily to say hello to her father working on the railroad tracks, and she loved to take a nap by the fire after school when she came home. She loved music and fashion and would often sew her own clothes.
Liz graduated from Roseville High School in 1966 and continued her education at San Jose State University, where she earned a Bachelor's degree in English and a Master's degree in Education, focusing on learning disabilties.
Liz met and married Roy, her husband of nearly 50 years, on a blind date. They relocated to Las Vegas and built a life there, raising their three children. She was a stay-at-home mom for ten years before returning to the workforce.
Liz was passionate about education and reading and spent her career in elementary education. She taught preschool, second grade, special education, and library science. She retired from the Clark County School District as a school administrator. She once won a radio contest for having a name that sounded like her job: "Mrs. Reeder, the Librarian."
Liz had many hobbies. She loved to travel and spent her retirement seeing the world with her husband. They enjoyed relaxing at their cabin in Pine Valley, Utah, and exploring the surrounding areas. She was a voracious reader who loved the library and enjoyed celebrating the holidays with family - especially Christmas. She was very crafty, and when her children were little, she would make and sell crafts to earn extra money. In her later years, she made beautiful handmade cards. She appreciated beautiful things and cultural activites, including attending museums, theatre events, and the ballet. She particularly loved French Impressionism. In her spare time, she enjoyed watching British television, baking, doing nature photography, strolling the aisles at Home Goods, walking her two small dogs Lilly and Daisy, and attending various social and women's groups.
Liz is preceded in death by her parents Eugene and Patricia Kamrar. She is survived by her husband Roy Reeder, sister Margaret Nickle, brother Preston Kamrar in addition to her three children: MaryAnn Avendano (husband Ramon Avendano and their children Isabel and Maya), Emily Abili (husband Ipalibo Nick Abili and their children Roy and Amy), and Daniel Reeder (wife Heather Hawn Reeder and their children Sonya, Katie, and Charlotte). A celebration of life will be held on January 17, 2026 at 11 am. For more details, please email ReederMemorialLV@gmail.com.
