ELMIREE FARR WALTER
Happy Birthday and Mother's Day!!!
Elmiree took flight to Pure Spirit on November 30, 2023 at age 90 ½ years. She began life on earth in Oklahoma City on May 9th, 1933 as Elmiree Childs – the eldest of 12 children born to Helen and Ellsworth Childs. Much of her early life was in Kansas City, Missouri, and during her junior high years the family moved to Southern California.
Elmiree was proud to have graduated from San Diego High School, "Class of 1951!" She attended every class reunion through the years. The 65th in 2016 was their last. She was very active in extra-curricular activities: on the Student Council, a valued member of the debate team, in the choir she was chosen to introduce the songs.
During her senior year she won a regional speaking competition; then won the national event in New York City and was awarded a trip to Brazil. So, it is not surprising that for over 40 years she was a professional keynote speaker and workshop leader – and an active Religious Science Practitioner. Elmiree was a member of the National Speakers Association. Her career took her to 35 of the United States, five Canadian Provinces, and seven countries.
The president of NSA wrote, "Elmiree looks like Diahann Carroll, has the sensitivity of Helen Keller, and the message and power of the finest motivation speaker I've heard!" She has the unique ability to connect person-to-person with those who are in attendance, and her talent to create interesting and descriptive "word pictures" quite often resulted in spontaneous standing ovations from audiences as large as 3,000.
This phenomenal woman also enjoyed success as a fashion model, actress, radio & television reporter, university instructor, author ... and mother. After college in Los Angeles, Elmiree married Leslie Farr in 1957. They had two children: Anya Denei and Armand Durand. Subsequently, after several years as a working single mother, she married Richard Walter in 1971 and they moved to Las Vegas. Although not living with their birth father, Anya and Armand always maintained a warm relationship with Leslie – as did Elmiree.
When introduced to Religious Science/Science of Mind in 1967, Elmiree was captivated and became an ardent student. As a Professional Practitioner she developed a successful practice of clients with whom she used prayer and spiritual guidance to resolve problems. She was frequently invited by vacationing ministers to present the Sunday message at their church because they knew her life affirming message would inspire their members. Practitioner Emeritus status was granted in 1997 and she later received the significant Meritorious Practitioner award.
Elmiree's passing from this earth life was preceded by her parents and four siblings: Ellsworth Jr, Kilmer, Marylineda, and Denyse. She is survived by Richard, her husband of 52 years, daughter Anya and son Armand; and seven siblings: Lera Lois, Glenda, Sherrion, Ceilan, Tyree, Romadus, and Helen Alana.
The Bottom Line – although her physical beauty is magnificently evident – it is Elmiree's deeply loving and connected Spiritual Presence that people notice even more-so, which draws them to her to experience it in person.
