Michael Rosario Farina, age 76, passed away on June 8, 2025 at Nathan Adelson Hospice on Tenaya Way in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Mike lived a life full of love, unshakable strength, and was a vibrant soul and spirit. Mike's endearing personality enabled success at everything he accomplished in life.
Born on April 28, 1949 in New York, he is preceded in death by his parents, Catherine (Lombardo) Farina, and his father, Frank Farina. Also preceded in death was what he considered his greatest mentor in his life, Rosario Farina, known as "Ross". Mike spoke of him always with a great amount of love and respect.
At the young age of 18, Mike joined the United States Army and began building his life's heroic career at Fort Jackson, SC. Mike's sharp mind, radiant personality, and team spirit earned him several incredible patriotic career medals and ribbons including the National Defense Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medals with 4 Bronze Stars, the Vietnam Campaign Medal as a paratrooper Airborne Division. He also earned the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Meritorious Service Medal and the Bronze Star Medal.
At the request of the United States Government, and after several tours overseas, Mike was asked to reenlist. Mike continued the growth of his remarkable and heroic military legacy with his phenomenal amount of energy. He led and encouraged so many of the troops.
Mike's life continually showed the ultimate measure of great military pride. He was awarded the Army of Occupation, his 2nd Overseas Service Medal, the NCO Professional Development Ribbon for his third time as he became a senior enlisted NCO Commander. Mike continued taking care of and showing the troops his dedication and pride. On April 1, 1979, he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant First Class (E7) and in 1984, Mike was further promoted to Master Sergeant (E8). Mike was honorably discharged after 6 more years of outstanding service.
Mike leaves behind his beloved wife of 45 years, Mary (Silvaggio) Farina, their children, his buddy Frank and his princess Autumn, siblings Anthony and wife Julie, Roseanne and husband Mike, and Marianne. He also leaves behind Mary's family of 6 brothers and sisters. There are also many more friends and family that were loved by Mike, of which there are too many to name here. Also, Thank You to our Family friends and the team at Dr. Thomas Alfredo"s Concierge Service known as Health4Life, always professional and always there for the end of life at Nathan Adelson's Hospice. And Dr.Vitug of Palliative Care.
We want to thank Mike for his undying love and unforgettable presence. He was the rock of our family, our superman. You were always there for us and would do anything for us. Your strong, reliable, encouraging, and loving presence meant so very much to us. Without you, there is a large void. We will miss your big laugh, your captivating way with words and storytelling, and your incredibly big heart. Your pride in your Italian heritage was reflected in your delicious cooking. We were so lucky to be loved by you and to have you in our lives. Your legacy and love lives on through all of us. We love you!
