Gary Farewell

March 12, 1936 - June 16, 2025

Gary Farewell was born on March 12, 1936, in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, and passed away peacefully on June 16, 2025.

Gary dedicated over 30 years of his life working as a Letter Carrier, for the United States Postal Service, a career he took great pride in for his service to the community. After retiring, he continued to stay active by working in the parts department at a Ford dealership, where he enjoyed staying busy and connecting with people. Gary never met a stranger and could talk and tell stories for hours.

In 1975, Gary moved to Henderson after living in California, where he made his home and built many lasting friendships. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Carolyn, and a loving father to his children, Chris Flatt and Brian Farewell. He was also a proud grandfather to his granddaughter, Jordyn, who brought him immense joy. Gary was deeply devoted to his extended family, whom he truly cherished and loved spending time with.

Gary had a deep love for the outdoors, adventure, and the open road. Some of his favorite moments were spent exploring back roads for hours, often leading to nowhere in particular—journeys he enjoyed for the peace, curiosity, and sense of freedom they brought him. Occasionally on weekends, Gary would drive to Kingman, Arizona, simply to have breakfast at Cracker Barrel, and then turn around and drive back home to Henderson, Nevada, enjoying the journey just as much as the destination.

He especially loved spending time at the lake, relaxing on his boat or fishing. Time on the water and camping with family and friends were among the simple pleasures that meant the most to him. He loved cars, was a passionate NASCAR fan and rarely missed attending or following the races.

A lifelong lover of country music, Gary formed meaningful friendships with members of the country music groups Diamond Rio and Sawyer Brown. Music was always playing and Gary was always singing.

Gary will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his strong work ethic, and his appreciation for life's everyday joys. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
