Las Vegas, NV - Gary Romero, a dearly loved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 28, 2026.

Born in 1937, Gary was a lifelong Las Vegas native who carried a deep love for his hometown and the many memories he made there. He graduated from Las Vegas High School in 1956 and cherished reconnecting with classmates at reunions throughout the years.

Gary was known for his playful sense of humor and his love of music-especially the timeless songs of Frank Sinatra. A naturally gifted athlete, he excelled in baseball, football, and basketball, earning varsity letters in all three sports. He never tired of sharing stories from his high school sports days. His vivid storytelling brought laughter and joy to family and friends.

Gary began his career as a firefighter, before going on to work in several of the city's iconic casinos, including the Desert Inn, Caesars Palace, the Horseshoe, and the Riviera. He had a lifelong passion for hunting, especially for quail and chukar. In retirement, he also found great happiness fishing with his son and close friends.

Gary was the loving father of three children: Torre Romero, Tina Leydecker, and his beloved daughter, the late Trista Romero. He leaves behind countless cherished memories that will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in Las Vegas.
