George Porter of Henderson, Nevada passed Saturday September 17, 2022. He was 60 years old and born a Cancer in 1962. He was surrounded with love from his family and friends, and his new granddaughter Emma, who made him smile with joy just before he crossed over to another realm of existence.

George was born in Oregon, yet spent most of his life in Las Vegas where he cultivated family life after years of service in the Army and National Guard. He was dedicated to his two daughters, Katlyn and Mallory who never caused him a day of pain in his life. They became confident and strong women and he supported them with love and guidance.

George will be remembered for his sense of humor and irony, his bellowing laughter, his ability to decipher politics of the day, his patience towards others and his love of dogs , cats and kids. He was a passionate about his hobbies and had a love of games and strategic competition and painting tiny figures.

Winter eventing were filled with preparing for gaming meets with his lifelong friends. he painstakingly painted miniature armies while researching historical material for authenticity in his art. He organized his friends to set up gaming parties which went on for days, where his friends played, drank and argued about life and what matters most to men. He was a teacher a man who loved and was loved and respected in his time.

George is survived by his daughters, his wife Melinda, his cousin Alva Porter, his cousin Sherry Matheny and his sister Debra Durall. All of us now have a deep hole in our hearts for a man who left us too soon. Without George, there will be no fun.

Memorial Services will be held at Palm Mortuary at Eastern at 3pm on October 8, 2022.
