Hugh W. Ferree, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, of Henderson, Nevada, passed away surrounded by family on June 15, 2024. He was 84 years old.

Hugh was born July 6, 1939 to Paul and Charity Ferree in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. At a young age, he and his family moved to Colton, CA, and then later to Bakersfield, CA where he graduated from East Bakersfield High School. After 4 years of service in the Marines, he moved to Las Vegas to be closer to his mother.

Hugh worked a very short time for the Post Office before starting his career at First National Bank, where he worked his way up from teller to Trust Officer. During that time, he volunteered for the Easterseals Organization, and was the President of the Nevada branch of the organization in the late 1970's. Upon leaving the bank, he dabbled in real estate, but with his lifelong passion for history, it was politics that captured his attention. After 20 years of service in government, he retired as the Assistant Regional Director for the late Senator Harry Reid.

Hugh was a fan of UNLV 'Tarkanian era' basketball, and loved watching baseball, college football, and women's basketball. After retiring, Hugh enjoyed the comforts of home, especially spending time with his wife in that special and easy way of an old couple deeply and comfortably in love. While not a man of many words, if asked, he'd share a story about most anything, often with some of his dry humor. A man of integrity, Hugh was always loyal and had the kindest heart.

He is survived by his wife and love of his life, Gloria, his children Sandra, Rannelle, Erin, Paula, and Carl, and grandchildren, Matthew, Kaine, Charity, Sydney, Gabriella, Jane, and Elizabeth. He was loved and will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him.

As a practical and private man, Hugh did not want a funeral, service, or celebration of life. If inclined to do so, please make a donation to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Nathan Adelson Hospice.
