JAMES EVANS

Doctor James Calvin "Cal" Evans passed away surrounded by family on July 15, 2026.

Cal was born on November 20, 1937, in Saint Louis, MO to Calvin and Jadine Evans.

Cal attended undergraduate college at Southern Illinois University & Dental School at Washington University, Saint Louis. He graduated from Dental School in 1966, and began private practice in Las Vegas in 1969. From 1969 until 2018, Cal actively practiced cosmetic dentistry at the highest levels until he retired.

Cal was a respected dentist, and served as the President of the Nevada Dental Society, a member of the Peer Review Board and as an exam monitor for the Nevada Dental Society. In 2013, Cal was selected by his peers to receive the prestigious Fae Ahlstrom award. Cal always loved helping his patients to get their very best smiles and considered his office staff and patients as friends.

Cal married Sonya "Sonnie" Kirk in 1960, and raised two daughters, Shannon Evans (Richard) and Beth Naef (Dan). He adored his three granddaughters, Taylor Robins (Remington), Kevyn Robins and Logan Kazarian, and his step-granddaughter, Kristina Naef (John). He considered his poodle, Charli, to be a loved family member.

Cal's favorite pastimes included golf, skiing, music, wine-tasting and gourmet cooking. He and Sonnie loved traveling. He was happiest when spending quality time with his family and sharing home-cooked meals at the family dining table. Cal's sense of humor was one of his best gifts. He had a blessed life.

Services will be held at Holy Spirit Catholic Church (5830 Mesa Park Drive, Las Vegas, NV 89135) on July 23, 2026; 10:00 a.m. viewing and 11:00 mass; followed by gravesite interment at Palm Eastern Cemetery (7600 South Eastern Avenue, Las Vegas, NV 89123).

Celebration of life will be set at a later date for family and friends.
