JAMES D. GREEN

James D. Green (Jimmy), born November 7, 1938, passed away on January 18, 2025. It is with broken hearts and much sadness that we have to bid goodbye to a very amazing man. Jimmy was loyal, honest, dedicated, fair, and most of all, full of love. He graduated from the original Las Vegas High School in 1956. After graduation, he joined the Navy, and after serving and receiving an honorable discharge, he returned to Las Vegas, where he became active in the casino gaming industry. He loved the casino life. He started out as a dealer and worked his way up the ladder to Casino Manager, a position he held at the Claridge Casino in New Jersey. Jimmy met his bride, Doris Romero Gonzales, while working in Casino business. The two were married in May 1977. 25 years later, they renewed their vows in Holy Family Church in Las Vegas. A few years later, in 1980, they moved their family to New Jersey with a team to open The Claridge Casino, but five years later, they were ready to move back to Las Vegas, where he continued his gaming career until his retirement in 2002. They led a very active life, volunteering in the Nevada Association of Mobile Homeowners (NAMH) and Retired Public Employees of Nevada (RPEN). They attended eight to ten meetings every month between both organizations. They were honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award from RPEN by their Board of Directors. Jimmy led an active and happy life. He golfed with celebrities, stars, NFL, and MLB personnel. He loved all sports, especially his Dodgers, Cowboys, Golden Knights, and the Running Rebels. He and Doris raised four sons and daughters. He is survived by Doris; and children, Debbie Komovic (Karl), from Pioche, NV, Daniel Gonzales (Pam), Las Vegas, David Gonzales (Carrie), from Huntington Beach, CA, Patrick (Sandra), Las Vegas, Delores Gonzales, from Vista CA, Marcos Green, Las Vegas; friend, Carla Green; 20 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren; sister, Shirley Spencer; sister-in-law; Lucy Greene (Dennis); brother-in-law, Ronnie Romero (Tandy Yeager); and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and relatives. He was predeceased by parents, Earl and Marie Green; in-laws, Kenneth and Stella Romero; sister, Holly Robles; five brothers-in-law; sister-in-law, Linda Romero; grandson, Kenneth Gonzales; and many uncles and aunts. He will be remembered by all. To know him was to love him. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Parkinson's Research or Adult Lung Cancer. Church service will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, on May 5, 2025, at 10:30 A.M., 2300 Sunridge Heights, Henderson, NV 89052. Burial will be at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetary, on May 5, 2025, at 2 P.M., 1900 Buchanan Boulevard, Boulder City 89005.
