James Joseph Jones (Jim) Obituary

Las Vegas, NV - Jim was preceded in death by his sister, Maudie L. Cole, and his brother, Alfred Jones. He is survived by his devoted wife of 58 years, Beth E. Jones, and his beloved daughter, Candace M. Munkres, who will forever cherish his memory.


Jim proudly served his country for 20 years in the U.S. military, where he showcased his expertise, adaptability, and dedication. Beginning as a helicopter mechanic stationed in Germany, he later transitioned to Electronics and Calibration. His career saw many milestones, including serving as a recruiter for three years, writing and instructing a soldering course at Lowry Air Force Base, and receiving accolades for leading the top precious metals recovery program. One of his most memorable achievements the he really enjoyed was serving as Team Chief in Europe while stationed at Camp Darby, Italy.


After retiring from the military, Jim continued his professional journey as a machinist in the Packing Department at the *Las Vegas Review-Journal*. Upon leaving the journal, he devoted his time and enthusiasm to the Southern Nevada Gem & Mineral Society. A passionate member, Jim found immense joy in teaching others how to cut and work with stones, generously sharing his knowledge and love for the craft.


Jim's kind spirit, generous heart, and enthusiasm for life left an indelible mark on all who knew him. He will be deeply missed, but his legacy of love, dedication, and curiosity will live on in the lives he touched.
