Las Vegas, NV - Jay Ramsey, singer, songwriter, musician, loving husband, and proud father and grandfather, passed away on April 26th. Gerald "Jay" Hugh Ramsey was born in Sanger, Texas on November 9, 1940. He attended University of North Texas, where he and fellow musicians formed the band, Expression. Jay and band members moved to Las Vegas where they headlined the lounge circuit, including venues all over the US and Canada for 16 years. During the 70's, Jay also wrote and recorded multiple memorable jingles for local Las Vegas businesses. He later formed the Jay Ramsey Band and toured locally and nationally for 18 years. He continued to perform in Las Vegas and Texas with former bandmate Jerry Brown as the Back in Time Blues Band from 2011-2022. During his prolific career, Jay's songs have been recorded by Elvis Presely, Roy Clark, Conway Twitty, and many others. In 2017, Jay was inducted into the Las Vegas Entertainers Hall Of Fame. His catalog of songs has appeared in many movies and television shows, including Mad Men, The Handmaid's Tale, Bloodline, the Drew Carey Show, and Parenthood. Fervor Records has called his songs "sensational, lush, classic, magic, and gems." We, the family and friends who knew and loved Jay, agree. Those words also perfectly describe the man. He is survived by Barbara Bogar, his devoted life-partner for over 30 years, his ex-wife Joan Marquis and mother to their daughters Noel Brasi and Angela Ramsey; sons-in-law Ron Brasi and Grant Evenson; grandchildren Adrian and Laney Brasi, and Ruby and Oliver Evenson; daughter Elizabeth Zimmerman and grandchildren Keegan and Tristen of Wells, NV; and an extended family of adoring cousins, nieces, and nephews in Texas. We are lucky beyond measure to have shared our lives with him. A private service will be held at a later date.
