Joan Dalton Clark Obituary

Las Vegas, NV - Joan Dalton Clark, 77, of Pulaski, Virginia, passed away on September 4, 2025 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 1 at 11:00 a.m. at Mountain View Presbyterian Church.

Joan was born in Pulaski, VA to Martha Marie Broyles and John Edward Dalton on November 9, 1947. She attended Radford University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Education, and Towson University, where she earned a Master's Degree in Secondary Education.

Joan met her husband, Robert Douglas Clark, at Virginia Tech when she was working in the Accounting department while he was a graduate student; they later married in 1970. The Clarks subsequently lived in Maryland and South Dakota before moving to Nevada in 1985, where they would permanently settle with their family, including daughters Annemarie and Kathleen (Katie).

Joan was a dedicated teacher in multiple states but spent the majority of her career with the Clark County School District, where she taught 6th Grade Math and 8th Grade Algebra at middle schools including Fremont, Keller, Brinley and Rogich. Committed to her craft as an educator, she pursued additional credit hours and also served as 6th Grade Lead, as faculty advisor for Student Council and as a teacher representative on the School Improvement Team during her tenure.

A devout Christian, Joan was actively involved at Grace Presbyterian Church, where she served as a deacon and taught Sunday School. She enjoyed fellowship with other congregants, including being a member of Sarah Elizabeth Circle, hosting in "Dinner for 8" and participating in Bible study. Through Grace Presbyterian, she also found much solace through its grief group in the years following the loss of her husband.

Joan's true joy came from spending time with her family. She was a supportive mother, eagerly encouraging her daughters in music lessons and other community activities. Although she was an only child, Joan valued her relationships with members of her extended family and always felt a closeness to southwest Virginia, where she will be laid to rest.

In retirement, Joan was a devoted caregiver to her husband following his stroke and other medical challenges. She loved watching British mysteries and completing puzzles side-by-side with him, and in more recent years, Joan enjoyed watching Christmas programming from Netflix & Hallmark. Joan fully embraced her role as occasional babysitter to her granddogs, and her daughters will never forget their mother's generosity to her family in countless ways over the years.

Joan is preceded in death by her husband and her parents.

Joan is survived by her daughters, Annemarie Stover and Kathleen; her son-in-law, Timothy Stover; her sisters-in-law, Carolyn Perrine and Alice Clark; her nephews, Frederick Clark and Dr. Andrew Clark; and her niece, Whitney Perrine.
