John's life was marked by dedication, service, and a boundless love for his family and community

John is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 35 years, Sharon, with whom he shared a life full of love and adventure. He was a devoted father to his children, John Jr., David (Francesca) and Stephanie, and a doting grandfather to Lani, Erica, and Tricia. His sister Nancy, (Jack), and brothers Ray, (Theresa), and Dennis, (Lucrezia), will miss his guidance and laughter, as will his many nieces and nephews.

John was preceded in death by his parents, "Lefty" and Sylvia, brother Robert, sister Anne, and his first wife, Patricia.

A man of intellect and curiosity, John received his Bachelor's Degree in Electronics Engineering from Chapman College, and later earned his Master of Science in Information Systems from Hawaii Pacific University. His academic achievements laid the foundation for a life of service and achievement.

John served 26 years in the United States Air Force, a career that saw him traveling the world and stationed in a diverse array of locales. He retired from the USAF in 1991, carrying with him the respect and admiration of his colleagues. Not one to rest, John embarked on a second career in Information Systems, applying his expertise and work ethic to every project he undertook.

Beyond his professional life, John was a man of many passions. He loved wood carving, a skill he shared with his brother Dennis, creating beautiful pieces that were as much a testament to his patience as his creativity. His love for working on cars was more than a hobby; it was a way of connecting with his sons, helping them with their very first cars and almost every car since. John's love for people was evident in every conversation he had, whether he was sharing his wealth of knowledge or simply enjoying the company of others. He became the neighborhood information source, always ready to engage on any subject.

John's creative spirit, loving nature, and friendly disposition made him a cherished presence in the lives of all who knew him. His ability to listen, to share, and to care made every interaction with him meaningful and memorable. In remembering John, we recall a life well-lived, marked by the joy of sharing his interest and the warmth of his company, legacy of kindness, generosity, and love will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him.

As we bid farewell to John Thomas Holzer, we celebrate a life that was full of purpose and happiness.
