Las Vega, Nevada - Karen Kay Hovsepian, a beloved sister, daughter friend, and longtime Las Vegas resident, passed away peacefully on June 2, 2026, at the age of 80.

Born on July 16, 1945, in Los Angeles, California, Karen was the daughter of Keram and Rachel Hovsepian and the sister of Richard Hovsepian. She was immensely proud of her Armenian heritage and deeply devoted to her faith throughout her life. Her love of family, tradition, and community shaped the person she became and the legacy she leaves behind.

Karen spent the last fifty years of her life in Las Vegas, where she became a respected and beloved hairdresser and barber. Over the course of her long career, she worked at several well-known establishments, including the Las Vegas Sporting House and the Orleans Hotel & Casino. Through her work, she built lasting relationships with loyal clients, many of whom remained with her for decades and became cherished friends. To Karen, her clients were never just customers—they were part of her extended family.

Known for her honesty, warmth, and larger-than-life personality, Karen had a gift for storytelling and loved sharing memories of old Las Vegas. She enjoyed friendships with many prominent hotel owners, entertainers, and notable figures throughout the city's history. Her stories brought the past to life and reflected her deep appreciation for the city she proudly called home.

A devoted daughter and caregiver, Karen lovingly cared for her parents throughout their lives. Her dedication, compassion, and selflessness were evident to all who knew her. Family was always at the center of her life.

Karen was passionate about Armenian history and culture and took great pride in learning about the Armenian people, their journey to the United States, and their contributions throughout the world. She helped preserve that heritage by donating historical family documents and records to museums so that future generations could learn from and appreciate their history.

Karen loved music and could often be found listening to the timeless voices of Johnny Mathis and Elvis Presley. She especially enjoyed music from the 1950s and treasured the memories those songs brought back. She also enjoyed Mediterranean and Thai cuisine and was an enthusiastic fan of sports, rarely missing an opportunity to watch basketball, football, or hockey.

Karen embraced life with enthusiasm and curiosity. She loved spending time in nature, taking trips to the mountains, traveling to new places, and enjoying the beauty of the outdoors. Hiking was one of her favorite activities, and she found peace and joy in nature's landscapes. Whether exploring a mountain trail, planning a new adventure, or simply appreciating the world around her, Karen approached life with a sense of wonder and gratitude.

She was also a devoted animal lover and deeply cherished her beloved cat, Kimmy, who was her faithful companion for many years and brought her endless comfort, happiness, and companionship.

Perhaps what Karen treasured most were the friendships she built throughout her life. She loved her friends dearly and was always there when they needed her. Whether offering support, sharing a laugh, telling a story, or giving honest advice, Karen could always be counted on. Her loyalty, generosity, and caring nature made her a treasured friend to many.

Karen will be remembered for her radiant smile, which could light up an entire room. When she smiled, her whole face glowed with warmth, kindness, and joy. Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Karem and Rachelle Hovsepian. She is survived by her brother, Richard Hovsepian, along with many loving friends, extended family members, loyal clients, and countless people whose lives were enriched by her friendship, kindness, and spirit.
