Larry Toth, 79, died March 19, 2025 following a long battle with prostate cancer.
Larry was born September 22, 1945 in Beccles, England. When his father's military career ended, his family settled in Wichita Falls, Texas. Larry graduated in 1970 from Midwestern University in Wichita Falls with a degree in political science. That same year, he married the former Susan Cherie Pollard of Wichita Falls. He was a proud U.S. Army veteran, having served in the infantry.
Larry worked for several Texas newspapers as a reporter and editor from the late 1960s into the early 1980s.
In the early 1980s, Larry and his wife moved to Oklahoma City where they raised their three children. There he owned and operated Management Consultants of Oklahoma City, an executive recruiting company. While in Oklahoma, he became a rabid University of Oklahoma football fan. When he retired to Las Vegas in 2003, the Sooners became a continuing frustration since they seldom beat the point spreads in the local sports book wagering.
A long-time history buff, Larry began collecting vintage postcards. He made friends with dealers and fellow collectors at postcard shows across the country. Larry's other Vegas era-obsession was playing craps. He became known as "Larry the Table Guy" at downtown and locals casinos across the city. Full-bearded and portly, ever outgoing and friendly, Larry struck up conversations with almost everyone at the tables, whether giving advice to beginners or debating finer points of the game with fellow long-time table denizens.
Survivors include his wife, Susan; one son, David Toth of Harviell, MO and his wife Amanda; two daughters, Stephanie Kates of Kansas City, MO and her husband, Jesse, and Mary Baucom of Oklahoma City and her husband, Thomas; his sister, Joyanne Ham of Sugar Creek, Ohio; and seven grandchildren: Toby and Jonas Kates, Kathryn and Andrew Toth, and Emma, Vera and Madeline Baucom.
Services will be at 11 a.m. April 8 at St. John's Episcopal Church in Oklahoma City.
