LEWIS CASDEN
April 3, 1930 - July 11, 2025
Born in Brooklyn, New York, to Rose Morris and Benjamin Casden. Lewis graduated from Brooklyn College, then served his country honorably in the U.S. Army as a Sgt. Tank Commander (Korean War). He married his college sweetheart, Shirley Galitzky, on April 11, 1953. Lewis was a restauranteur, and began his career by first owning a beloved neighborhood diner in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn. His talents were recognized by the legendary Stage Deli in New York City, where his management ability created an atmosphere where celebrities flocked to be seen. His talents were then recognized cross-country by the fledgling desert town of Las Vegas. In 1976, he and his family moved to Las Vegas, where he opened the iconic deli in the Aladdin Hotel, and the rest was history. A devoted family man and avid fisherman, Lewis dedicated his life to his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchild. Lewis is preceded in death by his adoring wife of 63 years, Shirley Casden. He is survived by his sister Jeanne Cohen; son Arthur Casden (Gloria); daughter Toby Vozzola; 5 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren (plus 1 on the way), and 1 great-great-grandchild. And 5 nephews.
