Mrs. Lois Edna Borsack Obituary

Dana Point, CA - Lois Edna Borsack (affectionately known as "Gopher") was reunited with the love of her life Donald Edward Borsack ("Mr. B") in heaven on April 15th, 2025. Lois and Mr. B's everlasting love and legacy is carried on by an unprecedented amount of descendants and friends, all of whom adored and loved Lois dearly.

A proud matriarch of a Las Vegas pioneering family, Lois is survived by her seven children, Michele, James (Renee), Marleau (Kricket), Mary Kay (John), Donald (Julie), Edward (Lisa), and William. She is also survived by her 29 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren. In all, Mr. B and Lois, amazingly both only children, produced a stunning 92 descendants.

Born May 12th, 1930 in Mendota Heights, Minnesota, to Elmer Kirchner and Della Arndt, Lois was raised by her mother and aunt Edna. She moved to Las Vegas in 1948 at the age of 18 when her mom opened the very first salon in Las Vegas, the Flamingo Beauty Salon. It was there that she met her soulmate Donald Edward Borsack in 1950. They married in 1951 and were inseparable from the moment they met. The purity of their love far exceeded even the most timeless love stories - their daily devotion to one another was exemplified every day of their 70 years of marriage.

Lois was the queen of organized chaos - she had to be to raise her 7 children - and if you know any of her kids you'd understand why. She balanced motherhood while working with Mr. B. in the family business, El Portal Luggage, where her occasional dramatic fainting spells became the stuff of family legend. All the while, she was active in the Las Vegas community and in her children's school, serving as the PTA President at Bishop Gorman High School where five of her children graduated.

A best friend to many, Lois had the uncanny ability to make everyone feel like they were her "favorite" and as if they were the only one in the room. Lois had the rare talent to make anyone- close friends and strangers alike - feel like they were a part of her family. In fact, Lois even had El Portal business cards made, the front read: Lois Borsack- "I love everyone." On the back of the card, it read- "You are next!"

Lois' business cards reflect her huge heart and intentional love and kindness towards anyone she encountered. She had a stunning smile, a brilliant mind, and a love for music that often resulted in spontaneous singing when her favorite songs would come to mind. Her big heart matched her bigger than life personality; she always found a way to steal the show with a song, a family story or perfectly timed joke.

Lois is now singing in eternity with her parents, husband B., two grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Lois' legacy lives in the hearts of all who were blessed to experience her effervescent spirit. Lois' family celebration of life will take place on a future date—just as soon as we can find a venue big enough to fit everyone who loved and adored her (and trust us, that's no easy task).
