Las Vegas - LOUIS (LOU) DEGREGORIO

Louis "Lou" DeGregorio, of Las Vegas, Nevada, passed away on August 28, 2025, at the age of 70. Born June 8, 1955, to Syl and Peggy DeGregorio, Lou was a lifelong Las Vegas resident who touched many lives both personally and professionally.

A proud graduate of Our Lady of Las Vegas School, Bishop Gorman High School, and UNLV, Lou is survived by his wife, Candice DeGregorio; his children, Dino and daughter-in-law Morgan, Giancarlo, and Crystal; his brother Charles and sister-in-law Barbara; sister SiSi; and his goddaughter Mia Martin.

Lou began his career in 1973 with Paul-Son Gaming Supplies, rising to Senior Vice President of Sales. In 1991, he founded DP Stud Incorporated, acquiring the rights to Caribbean Stud, the game that sparked the "novelty/carnival game" revolution. Over the years, he also introduced No Commission Baccarat and Progressive Pai Gow Poker.

He later launched JNLU, LLC, distributed the QuickDraw Shuffler, and served as Executive Vice President of DEQ Systems after selling the rights to Caribbean Stud in 2005. In recent years, Lou dedicated his expertise to Shark Trap, where he played a key role in developing a complete line of state-of-the-art shufflers. Today, Shark Trap continues to build on that vision, driving innovation and positioning itself to revolutionize shufflers across the table games industry.

Beyond his professional achievements, Lou made meaningful contributions to the Las Vegas community. He was a loyal supporter of local sports, holding season tickets to the Las Vegas Aviators and UNLV Rebels basketball. Lou was an avid MLB fan and loved his Dodger Blue. Known for his love of people, he hosted annual G2E parties that became legendary in the industry. Over the past year, Lou enjoyed traveling with family and friends to Costa Rica, Turks & Caicos, Mexico, Hawaii, and on various hunting trips, creating memories filled with adventure and fun. Lou often hunted ducks and geese in South Dakota and had multiple trips to South Africa.

Lou will also be fondly remembered for his cameo appearance as an extra in the James Bond film License to Kill (where he had many stories about filming) and for his deep roots in Las Vegas, where growing up his father managed the iconic Golden Gate Casino. A few examples of experiences that shaped Lou into the larger-than-life character known for his confidence, charisma, and enduring impact on the gaming world.

He will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, brother, and friend, and as a visionary whose energy and entrepreneurial spirit shaped the casino gaming industry for over five decades.
