Marieka Meyer Obituary
Las Vegas, NV - Marieka Meyer, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully, at the age of 77, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Marieka was born on June 22, 1948 in Schiedam, Netherlands. In 1954, she immigrated to America with her family through Ellis Island, and built a life centered around love and family. Raised in Mountain View, she attended the University of California, Berkeley where she was one of only two women in her class to earn a degree in architecture. She settled in Las Vegas in 1970 and went on to enjoy a distinguished career, including more than 30 years with NV Energy, where she served as Director of Administrative Services.
Marieka treasured the simple joys closest to her heart; time spent with her husband, laughter shared with her granddaughters, and cheering on her beloved Vegas Golden Knights.
Those who were fortunate enough to know Marieka will carry with them the memory of her warmth, intelligence, and strength. Her love for her family was the truest reflection of who she was, and that love will be felt - and deeply missed - for years to come.
She is survived by her husband Michael Meyer; her sons James Meyer (Brandi) and John Meyer; her four granddaughters Avery, Addison, Alexandra, and Olivia Meyer; and her two brothers Adriaan Boer (Janna) and Hans Boer (Janet). She was preceded in death by her loving parents Elsje and Marinus Boer.
