Las Vegas, NV - MaryAnn Brady, age 89, passed away on Sunday, November 16, 2025, with her children at her side as she returned to the loving arms of God.
MaryAnn Brady was born in Northeastern Pennsylvania in 1936, to James and Mary Grady. From an early age she learned that education was the cornerstone to success, so following graduation from high school she attended Temple University where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Nursing. After earning her certification as a Registered Nurse she applied to the university's ROTC program, and upon graduation from ROTC she entered active duty in the United States Air Force as a 2nd Lieutenant.
On a recommendation from some Air Force friends, MaryAnn agreed to a blind date in June of 1959 with the soon-to-be love of her life, 2nd Lieutenant Ronald L. Brady. Six weeks later Ron and MaryAnn were engaged, and six months later they were married in the chapel at Olmsted AFB, PA. Upon becoming pregnant with her first child, MaryAnn was required to resign her commission and was honorably discharged from military service. In the years following the birth of her son Mark, she welcomed daughters Karen and Carolyn Sue. As an Air Force wife and mother, she traveled with her family to locations around the world—including memorable years in Japan and the Philippines—and across the Southern U.S. before settling in Las Vegas upon her husband's retirement from the Air Force. She loved the Air Force life and was very sad to see their military service to the country come to an end. She cherished the years she and Ron devoted to serving our nation, and remained grateful for that honor throughout her life.
With kids in school and a husband transitioning to post-military life, MaryAnn returned to full-time nursing, working at several local hospitals, the Clark County Health District, and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. While working at UNLV, she felt drawn to education once more. She decided to step away from nursing and return to school, earning a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. As someone who loved math and statistics it was a natural fit that she should pursue and earn a Master's Degree in Economics.
With her degree, she pursued careers as both a researcher and educator, teaching Economics and Statistics at the College of Southern Nevada and working as a consulting economist on government projects.
She was a lover of theatre, music, fine art, and all things British (as her BritBox, PBS and AcornTV viewing list will attest). She loved traveling when she could, visiting Hong Kong, London, as well as Hawaii. She and Ron took annual trips to the Shakespeare Festival in Cedar City, Utah. She also loved the ocean and would look forward to trips to Southern California and the relaxing hours reading and gazing at the beach until sunset. She always said the beach rejuvenated her.
MaryAnn possessed a beautiful singing voice and enjoyed singing in church choirs. She encouraged her children and grandchildren to pursue their vocal and instrumental talents, attending as many of their performances as she could.
A devoted Catholic, MaryAnn was active in the Saint Elizabeth Ann Seaton Catholic Church. She loved watching EWTN and could be found reciting the morning broadcast of the Divine Mercy rosary. She was also grateful for the opportunity to volunteer at the Assistance League of Las Vegas.
MaryAnn also enjoyed sewing, knitting and most of all, doting on her wonderful grandchildren.
MaryAnn is survived by her children Mark (Joyce), Karen (Greg), and Carolyn Sue (TJ); brother Dennis (Dian); sister Ellen; seven beloved grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews whom she cherished. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ronald, and sisters Patricia and Elizabeth.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated for MaryAnn at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seaton Catholic Church, with interment to follow at the Boulder City Veterans Memorial Cemetery with military honors.
