MOLLY J. SWEAT

Molly J Sweat, 61, of Las Vegas passed away November 15, 2025 after battling ALS. She was born March 27, 1964 in Bend, OR. to Murl and Denice Wood. After graduating from Mountain View High in Bend she join the U.S. Air Force serving at Wurtsmith AFB, MI for 6 years and Elmendorf AFB, AK for 2 years where she met her husband of 34 years Richard Sweat. She separated from the Air Force to join her husband in Las Vegas, NV where they raised their two children Mathew and Jessica. She also continued her 40 year career of public service with the Federal Government holding several different job titles while work for three different branches of the government. She worked 16 years with the Bureau of Reclamation in Boulder City, NV. Where she worked as the assistant to the regional manager. She then took a position in the public information office with The Bureau of Land Management in Las Vegas, NV to be closer to home where is serviced for 6 years before taking a position with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service as a management analyst where she continued her life of service until her retirement in December of 2023.

Molly had a wide range of things she enjoyed in her free time. Taking trips to various locations of the country and the world either with her family or close friends. Taking hikes in various areas of southern Nevada. She enjoyed watching her beloved Atlanta Braves every summer. She was a connoisseur of teas and of any Oregonian wine usually consumed while reading a good murder mystery book or watching a stab him and slab him show on television, as she would put it.

She was preceded in death by her parents her in-laws Floyd Sweat and Sharon Sweat and both of her children Mathew and Jessica. She is survived by her husband, sisters Patti McCoy and Sandy Goddard. Their husbands Jay McCoy and George Goddard also Sandy's children Sam and Hannah. She is also survived by her sister-in-law and brother-in-law Jeanne and Ty Capell and step mother-in-law Celeste Sweat.

Molly's Celebration of Life will be held at Palm Northwest Cemetery in Las Vegas, NV. 6701 N. Jones Blvd, on December 7, at 1pm with a reception to follow at the same location.
