Las Vegas, Nevada - Ophelia M. Gomez ascended into heaven at the age of 93 on Thursday, January 29, 2026. Born June 1,1932, in New York City, Ophelia and her beloved husband of 72 years, Louis Gomez, lived an adventurous life in New York City, Los Angeles and Las Vegas. Ophelia spent her childhood and early adolescent life in New York City, relocated to Los Angeles in 1965 and a permanent resident of Las Vegas in 1966.

Ophelia worked in the Medical and Real Estate fields for the majority of her professional life. Ophelia's career began as a nursing assistant in New York City. Ophelia worked in Hospitals in New York City and Las Vegas, culminating her career as a Lead Surgical Nurse at Sunrise, UMC, and Desert Springs Hospitals in Las Vegas, Nevada. Ophelia graduated from the Nevada Association of Realtors Institute in 1989 as a licensed real estate agent. Ophelia worked her way up the ladder culminating career as licensed broker with Kassler and Associates.

Ophelia was a lifelong advocate of community enrichment of the Las Vegas Community, especially in the areas of the Education, Art and Business Development. Ophelia was a founding member of the Las Vegas Latin Chamber of Commerce, serving in all levels of leadership and culminating as Chamber President. Ophelia served on the board of the Girl Scout's of America and many other community organizations. Ophelia was a founding board member of the Hispanic Museum of Nevada. Ophelia committed her life towards enriching the cultural quality of life in Nevada.

Ophelia enjoyed reading, creating pottery and putting together puzzles. Ophelia and her husband, Louis, would spend endless amounts of time putting puzzles together, often the puzzles depicted pictures of love ones or beautiful scenery.

Ophelia is survived by her husband Louis Gomez, Sister Lydia Guzman, Daughters Kim Rivela (Joe) and Karen Delmont (Kevin), Son Robert Gomez (Susan), 9 Grandchildren, 5 Great-Grand Children. Many nieces, nephews and treasured loved ones.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday February 14, 2026 at 11:30AM. The services will be held at Palm Mortuary 7600 S Eastern Las Vegas Nevada 89123.
