Las Vegas, NV - On the morning of September 13th, 2025, Patricia passed away peacefully at home while holding the hands of her son and daughter. She embodied kindness and generosity, and her love for family knew no bounds. Patricia served as director and PreK teacher for many years at Captain Kidd's Daycare, where she demonstrated to everyone her kind and gentle spirit. Her love and patience touched the lives of many children entrusted to her care. She truly loved every child who was fortunate enough to have Miss Pat as their teacher.
Patricia was a woman of strong faith who loved her Heavenly Father and followed the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Born March 27, 1935, in Cedar City, Utah, to James Egbert Bonzo and Eliza Reese Bonzo, Patricia was the youngest and last surviving child of seven brothers: James Howard, Theron Reese, John Clifton, David Keith, Kenneth Clinton, Max Ray, Douglas Gene, and her sister Mary Alene Prothero. Patricia was also preceded in death by her husband, L. Gene Close Sr., her son Gregory Max, her grandson, Conall Douglas DeVito, and bonus granddaughter Destiny Heaven Hayden.
She is survived by her children, L. Gene Close Jr., Cynthia DeVito (husband Steve), as well as grandchildren Anthony Gene Close, Breanna Patricia Close, Hunter Steven DeVito (partner Serriah), Anwyn Alene DeVito, Morrigan Sunni DeVito, and great-grandchild Eric Espinosa Jr. (EJ), who all loved their Grammy with all their hearts. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Susan Bonzo and Gaye Close, and her brother-in-law, Jack Close, and her many nieces and nephews, whom she loved very much. She was fortunate to have her "bonus daughter," Penny Hayden, along with her children, Matt and Ana, who were dear to her and shared many fun moments in her life.
Thank you to Lorian Hospice and nurses Kim and Donna for their kind and gentle care. Thank you as well to Sarah Peaceful with Always Best Care Senior Services and her caregiver, Shotoya, for watching over Patricia with such thoughtful compassion.
Our world is dimmer with you gone, but now there's a new bright and shining star guiding our way. We love you Mom, Grammy, Great-Grammy, and Aunt Pat. Thank you for your endless unconditional love and support. We are all better people for having had you in our lives.
A graveside dedication will be held at Palm Mortuary on Eastern September 28 at 11:00. A remembrance celebration will be held at the family home after.
Mom would ask that you hug one another, be patient, and be kind.
~Blessed Be Mom
We love you for eternity
