PETER "PETE" ELIADES
April 27, 1933 – Oct. 26, 2025
Peter Eliades, 92, of Las Vegas, Nevada, passed away peacefully on October 26, 2025.
Born in Agia Kyriaki, Kastoria, Greece, on April 27, 1933, Pete came to the United States as an eighteen-year-old through Ellis Island with little more than determination and the hope of a better life. He began his journey in Duluth, Minnesota, where he met his beloved wife, Janet. The two later lived briefly in Chicago before making Las Vegas their home in 1955. He was a resident of Las Vegas for 70 years.
Pete was a taxi driver for 17 years, working long hours and saving every dollar he could. He also worked as a mechanic. He acquired a gas station named North Main Gulf. He later owned bars Whiskey A-Go-Go and Fuddy Duddy's. Through hard work and perseverance, he was able to become the owner of the cab company he worked for. Over the years, he became a proud owner of Yellow, Checker, Star, and New Cab companies.
Never afraid of new opportunities, Pete later ventured into the hospitality and entertainment world. He founded several well-known Las Vegas establishments, including Olympic Garden "OG", Boston Pizza, and Sapphire Gentlemen's Club. His success story became a reflection of the American dream, a journey from humble beginnings to building businesses that left a lasting mark on the city he loved.
Pete was proud of his Greek heritage and remained deeply involved in the local Greek community throughout his life. He was a devoted supporter of the St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church and the Las Vegas Greek Food Festival.
