Phyllis Eileen Bender Obituary

Las Vegas, Nevada - Phyllis Bender, a cherished wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2025, in Las Vegas, Nevada, after a valiant battle with cancer. Born on July 24, 1936, in Cleveland, Ohio, Phyllis's life was marked by her loving nature, wisdom, and creativity, which touched the hearts of all who knew her.

Phyllis's early years in Cleveland with her mother, father, sister and brother laid the foundation for a life full of love and dedication. Phyllis's marriage to Donald Bender was a testament to enduring love, spanning 65 cherished years until Donald's passing in 2021. Together, they built a legacy through their children: sons Marshall, Douglas, and Craig Bender; daughters Susan Tovoli and Alicia Taylor; and their beloved grandchildren Chloe, Delaney, Maggie, Campbell, Bellamy Bender, Madison Peckham, and Jack Taylor.

Phyllis's passion for beauty and functionality was evident in her pursuit of an education in interior design. Her career included notable positions such as a commercial interior designer for Frederick and Nelson's and as the director of retail for the Space Needle, where her talents left a lasting impression. Her creative spirit never waned, even as she transitioned from the professional sphere to her personal endeavors.

A proud Master Gardener, Phyllis's love for nurturing life extended from her family to her gardens. Her green thumb brought forth vibrant blooms, sweet meyer lemons and pomegranates, and elaborate desert landscapes around their family home, which became a sanctuary for family and friends.

Phyllis's interests were a reflection of her passion for learning and design. She loved sewing, creating beautiful pieces that were both practical and fashionable. Traveling with her husband Don brought her immense joy, as did the simple pleasure of swimming in the pool with friends and family. But perhaps what she cherished most was the time spent with her loved ones, imparting wisdom, recounting family history, and leaving them with memories to treasure forever.

Phyllis Bender will be remembered as a woman of grace and fortitude. Her Christian faith was a guiding force in her life, providing her with comfort and purpose through her final days. Phyllis' legacy is one of love and beauty, seen in the lives of her family and the vibrant home she cultivated with her beloved husband Don. Her wisdom will continue to guide, and her creativity will remain an inspiration for generations to come.
