Phyllis's marriage to Donald Bender was a testament to enduring love, spanning 65 cherished years until Donald's passing in 2021. Together, they built a legacy through their children: sons Marshall, Douglas, and Craig Bender; daughters Susan Tovoli and Alicia Taylor; and their beloved grandchildren Chloe, Delaney, Maggie, Campbell, Bellamy Bender, Madison Peckham, and Jack Taylor.

Phyllis's passion for beauty and functionality was evident in her pursuit of an education in interior design. Her career included notable positions such as a commercial interior designer for Frederick and Nelson's and as the director of retail for the Space Needle, where her talents left a lasting impression.
