Raymond Wayne Miller (RW) Obituary

On 2/14/23 Sgt. Raymond Wayne "R.W." Miller, in the loving embrace of his wife Nancy, peacefully concluded the last of many battles with cancers caused by exposure to the herbicide Agent Orange. Born in Jacksonville Florida in 1945, R.W. served with distinction in the 4th Infantry Division in Vietnam, where he earned many awards and commendations, including two Purple Hearts and the Army Soldiers Medal for Heroism. After the war, R.W. continued to serve his community in the Jacksonville Police Department, where his work undercover resulted in the prosecution and collapse of Florida's Outlaw Biker Gang. Later opening two successful Gun & Pawn shops "South Side Gun" and "South Side Gun II". R.W. moved to Las Vegas in 2003 where he played competitive Poker and wrote the book "The Captured Gun" detailing his service in Vietnam to benefit The Purple Heart Foundation. In addition to his community and national service, R.W. enjoyed several lifetimes worth of adventure. He was an accomplished sky diver, big game hunter, pilot, motorcycle enthusiast, bull rider, marksman, and competitive poker player. He enjoyed collecting historic military memorabilia and still found time to race and restore classic cars. Anyone who knew R.W. will never forget his smile and the way he captivated a room with just one of his many incredible stories. For those he never met, he'd tell you "Enjoy the Adventure" and that life is too short, so "Do it now, Do it today" -- words he lived by.
