SANDRA JOAN HEMMES

Sandra "Sandy" Joan Hemmes, 83, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2026. Born on October 27, 1942, in Oakland, California, to Terry King and Mary Humphreys, Sandy lived throughout California, Michigan, and Nevada. Throughout her life, she filled many roles: daughter, sister, aunt, devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, neighbor, and friend. Sandy's greatest joy was her family, and she worked tirelessly throughout her life to care for and provide for those she loved. She had a lifelong passion for flowers and gardening and enjoyed sewing, cooking, baking, writing poetry, and filling journals with her thoughts. Later in life, she proudly earned two bachelor's degrees from Ashford University in History and Social and Criminal Justice. Known for her joyful spirit, infectious laugh, and kind heart, Sandy loved to sing, dance, and brighten the lives of those around her. Her deep faith in God gave her strength and comfort throughout every season of her life. Sandy is survived by her children, Sherry, Richard, Ross, Chris, April, and Heather; her sister, Lynda; her brothers, George and Michael; her cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren; extended family members; and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Ronnie. A memorial service celebrating Sandy's life will be held on Monday, July 20, at 11:00 a.m. at Family Worship Christian Church, 3945 E. Patrick Lane, Las Vegas, Nevada, with a reception immediately following.
