Prescott, Arizona - Shari B. Compton passed away peacefully on Monday, July 21, 2025, in Prescott, Arizona. Born in Phoenix, Arizona, in 1940, Shari was a graduate of ASU. She made Las Vegas her longtime home, where she raised her two children.
In the late 1980s, Shari continued her public service as Commissioner of Consumer Affairs for the State of Nevada, where she championed consumer protections by creating anti-fraud laws and publishing a book on the subject titled "If It Sounds Too Good To Be True", during a time of rising telemarketing scams. Her leadership in government and nonprofit work reflected a lifelong passion for ethics and advocacy.
Shari is survived by her son, Brooks Compton, and her daughter, Candice Zabelny. A private memorial service will take place on August 5th, 9 a.m. at Resthaven Park Cemetery, 6450 W. Northern Ave, Glendale, AZ 85301.
