STEPHANIE ASTERIADIS PYLE Obituary

Las Vegas - DR. STEPHANIE ASTERIADIS PYLE

Dr. Stephanie Asteriadis Pyle left this world peacefully on November 7, 2025. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, wife, and cherished companion of her husband, Charlie Pyle. Born on March 12, 1950, in Jamestown, NY, to Byron Asterio Asteriadis and Dawn Louise Easton, Stephanie lived a life grounded in compassion, intellect, and service to others. Stephanie's life was guided by a strong moral compass, a wonderful dry wit, and a deep compassion that touched everyone who knew her. Professionally, Dr. Pyle dedicated more than two decades to the University of Nevada, Reno's Center for the Application of Substance Abuse Technologies (CASAT), where she served as Administrative Faculty and a driving force in the field of substance use disorder prevention and behavioral health. She established Nevada's first statewide substance use disorder reference library and clearinghouse, led or co-led more than 30 grants and contracts, and developed innovative prevention and education programs that continue to impact lives today. A lifelong learner, Dr. Pyle earned her Ph.D. while working full-time and taught Introduction to Substance Abuse Prevention for 16 years, inspiring countless students to serve others with empathy and integrity. Her leadership and writing through CASAT OnDemand helped translate complex research into practical knowledge for behavioral health professionals. Upon her retirement in 2021, she was honored with Emeritus Faculty status in recognition of her exceptional service. Dr. Pyle often said, "From early on in my time at CASAT I would wake up on Monday mornings and think, 'I get to go to work!' What a privilege I have had to work in an organization that does such incredible, cutting-edge work in the fields of addiction and behavioral health." Stephanie will be remembered for her intellect, humility, and unwavering kindness; and for the love she gave so freely to her family, friends, colleagues, and students. Her legacy lives on in the programs she built, the people she inspired, and the generations she nurtured. She is survived by her seven beloved children: Jason (Mary Maya) Parker of Nevada City, California; Jennie (Brian) Parker, Janelle Parker, Jessamyn Parker, Jayna (Jeremy) Litz, Joseph Parker, and Jordan (Barry McLaren) Parker, all of Reno, Nevada, and by her first husband, James (Jim) Parker. She was also deeply loved by her stepchildren, Casey Miles, James (Adrienne Meraz) Pyle, and Jamie (Cody) Wallis; her brother, Mark (Stacy) Asteriadis; and her grandchildren, Michael Hanna, Redger Parker, Jordan Litz, Kelton Robison, Juliana Litz, Nikolaos Parker, Jordan Maya Parker, Zachary Maya Parker and Crew Wallis. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at the Chattanooga National Cemetery. Dr. Stephanie Asteriadis Pyle will be deeply missed and forever remembered with love, gratitude, and respect.
