STEPHEN ALAN HARNEY

Stephen Alan Harney, age 75, of Las Vegas, a retired Nevada Highway Patrol Lieutenant, passed away on Sunday, January 11, 2026. While serving with the Highway Patrol, he was President of the Nevada Highway Patrol Association, range master, radar instructor, and traffic school instructor. Later, he served as Vice President and business agent with the Teamsters. He enjoyed coin collecting, playing golf, target shooting and was a movie buff and an avid Boston sports fan! He was preceded in death by his brother: John Harney, III. Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Linda; children: Jason (LaDawn) Harney, Josh (Danielle) Harney, Tracy (Mike) Bunker and Jennifer (Dustin) Freitas; grandchildren: Matthew (Kyla), Emma and Claire Harney, Ryan Klein and Marie Bunker; brother: Edgar (Melodie) Harney and sisters: Sherry (Tony) Allotta and Debbie (John) Goris. A funeral mass will begin at 10am on Wednesday, January 28, 2026 at St. Joseph, Husband of Mary Catholic Church, 7260 West Sahara Ave., Las Vegas. Interment to follow at Palm Northwest Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to the Injured Police Officers Fund at www.ipof.vegas, where Stephen served as President. Arrangements by Palm Southwest Mortuary, Las Vegas, Nevada.
