STEPHEN HOLMES HURST
Stephen Holmes Hurst, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away peacefully on October 20, 2025, at the age of 83. Born in Birmingham, Alabama, on January 1, 1942, Stephen lived a life defined by devotion to family, integrity, and a lifelong love of aviation.
Stephen built an accomplished career as a commercial airline pilot, proudly flying for TWA, US Air, and American Airlines. His passion for flight and commitment to safety earned him the respect and admiration of colleagues and passengers alike. Beyond the cockpit, he was known for his kindness, humor, and steadfast presence—qualities that enriched the lives of all who knew him.
He will be deeply missed by his loving family and friends, who take comfort in the many memories shared over a lifetime of adventures, laughter, and love.
A memorial service celebrating Stephen's life will be held at Palm Northwest Mortuary at a later date, where his loving wife of 53 years, Gayle, along with family and friends, will gather to share memories and honor the remarkable life he lived.
