Steven Michael Hobbs (Mike) Obituary

Henderson, Nevada - I remember not only the milestones but the

moments: his laughter echoing throughout our

home, the long walks he enjoyed with his dog Bijou, the gentle wisdom imparted in times of need, the bear hugs and declarations of love, the joy on his face when I returned even after a brief

time away, at the end of his life. In every memory, there is a lesson in how to live with courage, integrity, and love. From humble beginnings to a life filled with meaningful connections, friendships, and remarkable achievements, Mike exemplified kindness, resilience, and an unwavering spirit. His journey—marked by humor, perseverance, and the gentle guidance and mentoring offered to family and friends, serves as an inspiration to all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Michael "Mike" Hobbs was born August 9,1947, in Richmond Indiana. On a college scholarship he played basketball for Butler University, where he and I met and began a lifetime of adventure and fun. He had a never-ending zest for life. Together, we shared a passion for skiing, golfing, traveling and during his last seven years, bowling. We also shared sorrow and tragedy with the death of our son Brett at age thirty-three, and the delight of helping to guide to adulthood, Brett's three young sons.

Mike was a highly successful healthcare executive with an optimistic can-do spirit who brought warmth and humor to everything he did. Sadly, he was diagnosed with a rare dementia, logopenic progressive aphasia, in 2018, and he began the agonizing decline as his brain cells slowly died, leaving me, his wife, of fifty-five years, bereft, on August 14, 2025. He also leaves behind his three adoring grandsons, Davin, Gavin, and Corben, his new great-grandson Coa, his extended family, and countless friends.

Mike's journey on this earth may have ended, but the echoes of his love and kindness remain a guiding light for all who follow. His body was donated to medical science in the hope that others can benefit. Celebrations of his life, so beautifully lived, will be held in Laguna Hills, California, and Henderson, Nevada, at a later date. Please consider a donation in his name to the Cure Alzheimer's Fund or the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health.
