Steven Singer Obituary
STEVEN PHILIP SINGER
Steven "Steve" P. Singer, 77, passed away in Las Vegas on June 1, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. Born January 26, 1948, in Hollywood, California, to Edward and June Singer, Steve grew up in West Covina, where his natural leadership and competitive spirit began to shine early. He graduated from West Covina High School in 1966, where he proudly helped lead the Spartans to a State Championship title in 1965.
Steve continued his football journey at the University of Utah on a full-ride scholarship before transferring to UCLA, where he earned his degree in Anthropology in 1971. His time on the field shaped his lifelong dedication to teamwork, resilience, and a drive to win.
In 1971, Steve moved to Las Vegas, a city that would become his lifelong home. In 1986, he co-founded Orgill/Singer & Associates Inc. with Robert "Bob" Orgill, building it into one of Nevada's most respected insurance agencies. Steve's vision and leadership helped serve not only the Nevada state government and municipalities like Clark County, the City of Las Vegas, North Las Vegas, and Henderson, but also the small businesses that form the backbone of the state. Under his stewardship, the agency managed the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce's health insurance program, a key initiative that helped make it the fourth-largest chamber in the nation.
Steve married his first wife, Susan, in Las Vegas in 1971, and together they raised two children, Stanford Singer and Shana Singer-Paul. In 1988, he married Billye Bailey, his partner and soulmate. Together, they created a life full of laughter, love, adventure and cherished memories.
Steve lived life with a deep love for early mornings on the golf course with lifelong friends, fishing trips, and spontaneous travel adventures with his wife, children, grandchildren, and friends. He had an unwavering sense of loyalty, a go-getter mindset with a competitive spirit, and a sharp sense of humor (and maybe a few stolen jokes from Billye!) that could light up any room. His laugh was infectious. Steve was also deeply engaged in the world around him. He valued education, took great pride in his politics, and was exceptionally well read. He had a sharp eye for current events and a love for meaningful conversation, always ready for a thoughtful discussion or a spirited debate. Whether cheering on his children and grandkids, celebrating his wife's artistic accomplishments, or sharing stories, Steve had a gift for bringing people together in meaningful and lasting ways.
Steve is survived by his wife, Billye Singer; his son Stanford Singer (Jessica); his daughter Shana Singer-Paul (Greg); and his stepdaughter Ashley Spencer. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Noah Singer, Davis Paul, Elijah Singer, Berkley Paul and Finley Singer, each of whom brought him immense pride and joy.
Steve, let the sun be at your back and the water be calm in front of you. Being on the water, and waiting for that tug on your line was one of the many joys your children, grandchildren and friends experienced with you. Know that all the amazing fish await you, whether it be a marlin, trout, dorado or even that occasionally elusive rooster fish, forever biting in clear waters where the sun always shines and the line never breaks.
Steve's life will be honored with an open house celebration on October 25th, 2025. All who knew him are welcome to attend and share memories.
