SUSAN LEE (HALLOF) BARNETT

Oct. 6, 1933 - Feb. 20, 2026

Susan Lee (Hallof) Barnett of Las Vegas, Nevada passed away peacefully on February 2, 2026. The second of three children, Susan was born October 6, 1933 in Kirkwood, Missouri to Viola and Philip Hallof. She is predeceased by both her older brother Philip Hallof Jr and twin sister Sally (Hallof) Gray, as well as her husband of 50+ years Warren K. Barnett (Lt Col, Air Force, retired), and recent domestic & travel partner Fred Hampton.

Susan is survived by her three children, Richard Barnett (Carlsbad, California), Robert Barnett (Las Vegas, Nevada) and Sallie Barnett (Wildomar, California), their respective spouses Anna Crivici, Kim Barnett and Bob Hastings, grandson Eric Leavitt and his wife Liz (Wildomar, California), and great-granddaughter Kaylee Leavitt.

Susan attended Ohio University with her sister Sally, leaving in 1954, after five semesters, to pursue her Mrs. degree with the newly graduated and commissioned Air Force First Lieutenant Warren (Barney) Barnett. The couple enjoyed a 20-year military career, living all over the U.S. (Texas, Alabama, Maryland, Ohio, Montana), as well as a posting in Japan.

Susan was a mom first and foremost, nurturing her three kids, while drilling the importance of a good education into all three. Her hard work was rewarded as all three earned advanced degrees.

Susan also kept active outside the home, with multiple jobs and volunteer work. Whatever she was involved in she aimed for leadership; whether running Officer's Wives Clubs or the president of the Resident's Council at Las Ventanas, where she lived her last 18 years. Her crowning achievement was to be elected as the national president of the National Association of Professional Mortgage Women in 2007-08.

A Celebration of Life open house will be held at the Las Ventanas at Summerlin retirement community (10401 W. Charleston Blvd) in Las Vegas, Nevada on March 21, 2026 from 2-4:00.
