One year ago, on January 23, 2022, Vivian Louise Prater, 94, passed into the loving presence of the Lord Jesus, surrounded by her family. Vivian was born March 19, 1927 in Osawatomie, Kansas and was a 58 year Las Vegas homemaker that she created with Archie Kenneth Prater, her husband of 67 years.

Vivian "loved every minute of life", especially everything family. Vivian made her home a warm place to thrive and grow with generous amounts of laughter among life lessons. Devoted to her husband and children, she enjoyed sewing, cooking, camping, holiday traditions and barbecues, watching kids and grandkids swim and play sports, reading, motorhome and cruise ship travels. They were active in the Lions Club and other community activities, making lifelong friends. Vivian's abiding faith in Jesus was a source of joy and strength she displayed every day, attending her church in Las Vegas for 50 years.

Vivian was always willing and able to tackle any problem or pursue any adventure. She played doubles tennis until age 84, excelled at wicked drop shots, slice serves and backhands. She was the best family card player and croquet champion, even besting her much younger grandsons. Vivian listened willingly, advised when asked and was quick to laugh. We often laughed until we wept.

Vivian was preceded in death by her husband Archie Kenneth Prater, grandson Peter N Holloway and son-in-law Lawrence J Kelly. She is survived by children Diane L Kelly, Gary K Prater (Jana), Linda E Marynow (James), grandchildren Jennifer Cunningham, Kenneth Prater (Emily), Dennis Prater (Kim), Matthew Prater (Alyssa) and great-grandchildren Cole Cunningham, Madelyn Cunningham, Carter Prater, Jase Prater and Kye Prater.
