North Las Vegas, NV - Wesley Ervin Sterner was called home to heaven on November 2, 2025.

Wesley Ervin Sterner was born on September 6, 1948 in Norfolk, Nebraska. He was the son of Willis A. and Geraldene M. (Kilgore) Sterner. Wes graduated from Madison High School in 1966. He attended MilfordTechnical School, graduating with an Associates Degree in Drafting.

He married Linda Jean Long on November 30, 1968 at the First Presbyterian Church in Madison, Nebraska. They are the parents of two sons, Steven and Shane.

Wes enlisted in the United States Air Force in June of 1969. He served his country for 24 years, 3 months and 6 days, reaching the rank of Senior Master Sgt. While on active duty, Wes attended UNLV, graduating with honors with a bachelors in Business Management. After his retirement from the Air Force, he went to work for the Clark County School District as an Air Force Junior ROTC instructor. He taught for 14 years. He said it was the best job ever.

He loved to bowl and was active in the bowling community. He served on the Board of Directors of the Southern Nevada Bowling Association. He served as Vice President and Tournament Director for several years. He served on the lane certification committee for over 20 years, sliding into the pin decks and taking required measurements. His highest game was a 289.

Wes and Linda loved cruising. They did their 54th cruise in September (15th time to Alaska.)

But his greatest love was riding his bicycle. He started seriously riding after his retirement. His normal daily ride was 30 to 40 miles. He rode in all 50 states, most of the Canadian provinces, Norway and Costa Rica. Wes had ridden over 100,000 miles on his bicycle.

Wes was proceeded in death by his parents .

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Linda, his two sons, Steven and Shane (Chrissy) five grand children, Tyler (Angela), Kesley, Corbin, Eli and Hannah and four great grand children, Karina, Adeline, Isaiah and Bailey. He is also survived by his siblings, Gregory (Julie), James, Eugene (Laura) and Julie (Gregg), nieces and nephews.
