Sun City West, AZ - William Arthur "Bill" Newman, a Vallejo, CA native, passed away peacefully at his home in Sun City West, Arizona. Bill earned BA and MBA degrees from the University of Nevada, Reno, and later a Ph.D. from Canterbury University in New Zealand. Subsequently, he taught at UNR, UNLV—where he was a Tenured Professor—and Texas A&M International, where he served as a Distinguished Professor and interim Dean of the School of Business. He coauthored several textbooks on computer programming and was named 1998 Computer Educator of the Year. He served for 27 years as a command officer in the Nevada Air National Guard and consulted widely about data security in the casino industry. in the casino industry. An avid skier and adventurer, Bill was cherished by friends for his easy-going nature, kind advice, and a great sense of humor. He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Anthea; his brother, Robert Newman (Judi); and his niece, Jennifer Newman (David Engel).
