Dr. William Lord Warren Obituary

Kingman, AZ - It is with great sadness and good memories that I, Cindy Toepfer, announce the passing of Dr. William Lord Warren. He was born in Washington DC to William Lord Warren Sr and Charlotte Lee Allnut. Besides living in Washington DC, the family moved to Florida for a short time and then moved to Reno, NV when he was 13. In high school Bill was into sports lettering in football, basketball and track (880). He made the "All-American High School Football Team" at 17 years old and met Bart Starr on the team, past quarterback for the Green Bay Packers. He started at the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) in Engineering when he was 17. He joined the Naval Reserve at 18 and requested active duty serving 2 years and attended Radar school at Treasure Island in the 1950's. He worked for Western Electric for a short time and then back to UNR. He was married at 21 yrs old and later divorced. Bill attended the Los Angeles College of Optometry graduating 3rd in his class—Magma Cum Laude. He started his Optometry career in Sparks, NV, later opened a business in Fallon, NV and practiced in Reno, NV. As a side, he became a Geologist in 1968 for 5 months working for Kennecott (Bear Creek Mining). He then moved to Las Vegas, NV in 1972 and had an Optometry practice on E. Lake Mead Blvd and then on Bonanza Rd until 1990. He retired in 1993 after working part time a few years and moved to Kingman, AZ to be with Cindy. Together we traveled Nevada and Arizona fishing and sight-seeing. Bill spent countless hours making beautiful fishing flies and reading. He was preceded in death by his mother, father, sister and daughter, Zoe Ann Warren. He is survived by his significant other of 40 years, Cindy Toepfer, brother, John Warren and wife Nancy and their 2 daughters, Leslie and Amy and his sister's 2 children, Danny and Kim. Bill requested no services and will be greatly missed but will remain in my heart forever.
